As an Enhanced Care Support Worker, you will be an integral part of the Enhanced Care Team, delivering 1:1 enhanced therapeutic care, personal support, and supervision to meet the additional physical and psychological wellbeing of patients. Enhanced care and support will focus on patient‑centred care giving and holistic activity and care planning to support the patients changing needs during their hospital stay.

This is a relatively new team to the trust which will develop and evolve with our collaborative team working approach to ensure we meet the advancing demand of the service whilst providing safe, patient care and supervision.

The Enhanced Care Team provides 1:1 patient support and supervision on the wards across both Telford and Shrewsbury hospital sites. The post holder will be under the direction and supervision of ward Registered Nurses and Ward Managers. The team will be responsible to the Clinical Lead for Enhanced Care.

Flexibility in working across shifts, wards and both sites at Shrewsbury and Telford hospitals is mandatory and will be required to meet the needs of the patients and service. Working to support other clinical areas will be required at times.

• Enhanced Care Support Workers provide high quality enhanced personal care, support and supervision, respecting people’s dignity, inclusive of their individual needs and preferences. Compassion and kindness to enhance patient health, wellbeing and experience is essential.
• Providing patient 1:1 care and support through observation and interaction, aims to reduce the risk of patient harm whilst enhancing patient experience.
• All patient personal care needs, support, and supervision are patient‑centred and inclusive.
• Activities for patient therapeutic stimulation and enjoyment will be planned.
• Support new team members.
• A mandatory 2‑week training programme for the fundamental learning of the healthcare service and ongoing support will be provided to ensure the role is undertaken confidently and competently. Additional bespoke training will be required to confidently undertake the role proficiently.

As this is a new service and team to the organisation your passion and enthusiasm for patient care and service quality and development will be encouraged. Your ideas will be welcomed to continuously meet the developing needs of the patients and service provided and a proactive approach to work will be welcomed.

Whilst you will be aware of your roster allocation in advance due to the nature of the role and needs of the service, there will be times when flexibility will be required.

This post will require rotation duties, work on different wards including Emergency Department and across Trust sites both sites at Telford and Shrewsbury.

• Good standard of reading and writing English
• Evidence of relevant study days/courses undertaken (Including online)
• Demonstrates a commitment to further learning and personal development.
• Level 2 English and Maths
• Further healthcare related study

• Experience of working in a care/support role
• Demonstrates and understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Care Support Worker.
• Demonstrates ability to pass on knowledge to others
• Basic IT skills
• Demonstrates professionalism and a passion for individualised care and support
• Experience of working within an acute hospital setting
• Previous Health Care Assistant/clinical aide role
