We are seeking to recruit a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Children in Care) who is passionate about leading and supporting high-quality services.
AboutThe Role
We are looking for a passionate and skilled School Nurse or Health Visitor to join our Public Health Nursing Service, Children in Care team. You will deliver the Healthy Child Programme, provide evidence-based care to promote health, reduce inequalities, and safeguard children, young people, and families. The Children in Care SCPHN will work as part of a multi-agency service to provide a seamless pathway for Children in Care and Care Leavers, undertaking statutory health assessments, delivering health promotion, attending statutory reviews, and delivering the healthy child programme to improve health outcomes.
You will work with children in care, unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, those with complex health needs, care leavers, and their families, planning and evaluating health assessments and developing health plans to support long-term outcomes. You will also act as a resource providing health advice to children, carers, and professionals.
You will need to be an experienced Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) School Nurse or Health Visitor with 0-19 experience and knowledge of the Healthy Child Programme and related policies. You should be able to identify risk, assess, plan, and deliver evidence-based interventions to support children, young people, and care leavers within Barnsley. You should be highly motivated, innovative, adaptable, and able to prioritise your own workload.
Willingness to travel to a range of venues is essential. Experience of safeguarding and multi-agency working is key. The team also coordinates care for children placed out of borough and liaises with other agencies. If not dual trained, there is willingness to complete extended practice.
