The post holder will assist the Topic Specialist (Competent Person) within the Trust in relation to fire safety issues with specific reference to Health Technical Memorandum 05 (Firecode) standards and meeting the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. To promote fire safety compliance throughout the Trust and ensure that all Trust premises maintain high standards of fire precautions.
Mainduties of the job
The post holder will assist the Fire Safety Manager to ensure that the Trust governance activities reflect national and local guidance initiatives in relation to fire safety requirements.
The post holder will manage all appropriate policies, procedures, systems and arrangements to support fire safety and that robust governance processes are in place to monitor the implementation and effectiveness of compliance within and across the Trust.
To assist the Fire Safety Manager with professional input to all matters relating to fire prevention and response issues, affecting or likely to affect the running of the Trust. Maintain and develop specialist knowledge on relevant legislation and guidance.

Person SpecificationEssential Experience
- Post holder should have significant working knowledge of general fire safety preferably gained during employment with the local Fire Authority
Essential Skills
- Good communication skills and an aptitude for delivering fire safety training.
- Computer literate.
- The ability to demonstrate a clear understanding and application of fire legislation and regulations appropriate within the healthcare environment is essential.
- Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative.
- A flexible attitude.
Essential Knowledge
- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
- Knowledge and experience of Health & Safety and risk management.
- Willing to undertake further training in order to maintain CPD and fulfil the requirements of the post.
Essential Qualifications
- Good standard of general education.
- Hold a NEBOSH or British Safety Council Diploma or equivalent.
