Job Overview
Band 5 Senior Clinical Coding Analyst with RRP at 20% of basic pay. The Clinical Coding Team at Frimley Health are expanding and we have exciting opportunities for permanent Clinical Coding Analyst positions, to be based at any of our main sites or fully remote anywhere within the UK for ACC qualified candidates. This post attracts a Retention and Recruitment Premia of 20%, which will be reviewed annually.
You must hold the ACC qualification and be able to evidence a strong history of clinical engagement to work through coding queries.
- Ensure your clinical coding skills (including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology) are continually developed and applied to produce a high‑quality clinically coded record.
- Complete and engage in a program of ongoing clinical coding training, including ICD
10 & OPCS classifications and national standards. - Attend and complete the mandatory Clinical Coding refresher course in line with NHS England recommendations.
- Demonstrate consistent competency through audits and validation using DSP toolkit quality assurance levels.
- Maintain compliance with national coding standards and local policies, updating personal reference materials accordingly.
- Collaborate with clinical staff at all levels to resolve documentation inconsistencies and ensure compliance with coding standards; maintain an engagement tracker.
Qualifications – Essential criteria:
- ACC Coding Qualification
- AS/NVQ Level 3 Standard with a GCSE including Biology
Qualifications – Desirable criteria:
- BSc/Foundation Degree in a related science subject
Knowledge or experience – Essential criteria:
- Analyse and interpret complex medical terminology/documentation using sound evidence‑based judgments.
- Knowledge of anatomy & physiology and medical terminology.
- Experience of coding across a wide range of specialties.
- Good understanding of the clinical coding profession and its place in the NHS.
- Good customer service skills.
Knowledge or experience – Desirable criteria:
- Coding experience within an Acute Trust.
Experience – Essential criteria:
- Achieved ACC status and the number of years of experience.
