This full time post is based between Inverclyde Royal Hospital (3 days) and The Centre for Independent Living, Greenock (2 days). This post provides a unique opportunity to support assessment and management of swallowing and communication difficulties for those living across acute and community settings within the Inverclyde area.
The IRH acute SLT service provides input to a range of in patients across medical and rehabilitation wards and offers an outpatient service to patients with a range of aetiologies. There is opportunity to work with a varied caseload according to applicant interests. There is excellent support from the team of SLTs and a HCSW SLT as well as the wider MDT.
Inverclyde Rehabilitation and Enablement Service (RES) provides multidisciplinary care to patients over the age of 65 years with a range of acquired communication and swallowing needs due to varying aetiologies. AHPs within this service work collaboratively to provide a community service across the Inverclyde area. This service model ensures patient centred meaningful outcomes for patients and their support networks throughout the complete patient journey.
High value is placed on SLT’s contribution to Inverclyde RES and collaborative multi‑agency working. SLT is provided by this vacant post and another experienced B7 SLT.
We are a friendly, dynamic and forward‑thinking team which offers excellent support within both acute and community, with supervision and continued professional development opportunities. Both SLT teams work well together to provide seamless care.
IRH has excellent public transport links with Branchton train station a few minutes’ walk away.
• A car driver is essential for the community days with a combination of face to face and remote work required.
• It is essential you have a Degree in Speech and Language Therapy with current HCPC registration.
• This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland check. You may be asked to work in other areas of the acute service or across other sites within NHS GGC as required for the acute days.
• The post is part of the acute service that works 5 days over 7 with a rota for weekend and public holiday cover, with a typical shift pattern of 08.30‑16.30.
