SALARY: £46,142 to £51,357 per annum + Benefits

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior Public Health Intelligence Analyst to join a proactive Public Health team within a forward-thinking local authority. As a Senior Public Health Intelligence Analyst you will lead complex data analysis, reporting and insight to support evidence-based decision making across health and care systems. You will work with commissioning, performance and strategy teams to improve public health outcomes and reduce inequalities.

Working collaboratively with internal directorates, NHS partners and academic organisations, the Senior Public Health Intelligence Analyst will design statistical analysis, geo-mapping and interactive dashboards to make data accessible, actionable and impactful.

DUTIES
  • Evidence Development:
    Source, compile and analyse accurate, up-to-date public health data to inform commissioning and service development, including Joint Strategic Needs Assessments (JSNAs)
  • Data Dashboards:
    Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards to monitor strategy delivery and commissioned service performance
  • Advanced Analysis:
    Design and deliver complex statistical analysis, visualisations and geo-mapping to identify health trends and inequalities
  • Insight Reporting:
    Produce clear statistical reports and commentary, translating quantitative and qualitative data into actionable insight
  • Partnership Working:
    Collaborate with NHS bodies, local authorities, national organisations and academic partners to enhance data use and shared intelligence
  • Data Governance:
    Ensure compliance with GDPR, information governance standards and best practice in data quality and ethical use
  • Inequalities Analysis:
    Understand and communicate variability within inequality cohorts to support targeted interventions
  • Organisational Capability:
    Contribute to embedding analytical and data-led thinking across the wider organisation
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Understanding of public health strategy, commissioning and service delivery within local government
  • Experience using specialist software tools such as Power BI and SQL
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven experience preparing statistical reports and performance commentary
  • Experience cleansing, analysing and validating datasets to ensure robust and replicable results
  • Ability to communicate complex data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrates a systematic approach to work with excellent attention to detail
DESIRABLE
  • Experience contributing to Needs Assessments or Joint Strategic Needs Assessments
  • Experience working within a local authority public health setting
  • Experience developing interactive dashboards and data visualisations
  • Knowledge of geo-mapping tools or ESRI systems
  • Skills in website editing using Word Press
