Job Summary

The Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit - Cancer Theme (CCTU-CT) is hosted by Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) NHS Foundation Trust, which includes Addenbrooke's Hospital and is part of the Cambridge Cancer Centre, a partnership between Cancer Research UK, CUH and the University of Cambridge. As the Cancer Theme of the Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit, we work with investigators to design, set up, conduct, analyse and publish cancer research studies sponsored by Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Clinical Trials Data Manager to be part of the cancer clinical trials coordination team, which is part of the accredited Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit, to contribute to cancer research.

This is a sponsor‑side data management role – central to trial oversight, data quality, and research integrity. It is not patient‑facing but you will play a key role in working and training participating site staff.

As a data manager in the CCTU‑CT, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the trial management group running the trials, with career paths in data management specialisation, programming or trial management as potential options in the future.

If you have outstanding attention to detail, strong technical skills with relevant experience and motivation for clinical trials data management, this role could be for you.

Main Duties of the role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the Data Management aspects of assigned trials – data collection oversight, review, cleaning, querying and reporting through electronic data capture systems.
  • Coordinating collection of trial samples from participating sites to support translational research.
  • Preparing, curating and presenting trial data for use by trial teams and oversight committees.
  • Assisting in the design and amendment of bespoke databases by working with programmers and the study team.
  • Supporting the setup of new trials
, contributing to documentation, processes, and system readiness.
  • Acting as a point of contact for participating sites on data management processes and EDC systems.

Please note that this role cannot be performed fully remotely. The successful post holder will be expected to attend our offices in Cambridge at least 1‑2 days per week or dependent on the needs of the projects.
