Child Clinical Psychologist

The closing date is 24 March 2026

This is an exciting opportunity for a Child Psychologist to join our expanding Clinical Psychology team on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 12 months.

You will work alongside Community Paediatricians, Speech and Language Therapists and Clinical Psychologists to complete high-quality, evidence-based autism assessments for children and young people in Lincolnshire, focusing specifically on CYP who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), developmental trauma, attachment difficulties and complex mental health difficulties.

You will be joining an established and friendly Psychology Team where the role of Psychology is highly valued and your development is encouraged. We have a strong commitment to supervision, CPD and joint working with a range of other agencies and professionals.

The Psychology Team provide a countywide service across sites in Lincoln, Boston, Spalding, Grantham and Louth. The post holder will be expected to travel to other sites in the county as required and will need to have a full driving licence and access to a car. Applicants are welcome to discuss arrangements for the location of the base as this may be negotiated.

The service also makes use of digital technology that supports home working, which is appropriate for many aspects of this post.

For enquiries regarding the post or to arrange an informal discussion please contact Dr Sarah Wilde  OR Dr Chloe Isbister

Main duties of the job

You will be involved in social communication assessments for young people who have experienced developmental trauma, significant early life adversity, attachment difficulties and/or complex mental health challenges. The assessments include gathering developmental histories and completing clinical interviews with young people and their families in order to understand the strengths and difficulties of each individual young person. You will also be expected to complete observations of social communication through standardised tools such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) or in settings such as schools.

Information is also gathered from a range of sources including education and any other agencies involved with supporting the young person.

You will be expected to be involved in innovation and service design to support the improvement of services and wait times. The Psychologist will offer consultation and psychology opinion to all members of the MDT and provide a link between community paediatrics, SALT and CAMHS and Healthy Minds Lincolnshire, assisting involved professionals with helping children and young people with identified mental health or emotional wellbeing concerns access services which can address these needs.

There are also five Assistant Psychologists in the team so it will be expected that the Psychologist will provide supervision to less experienced psychologists.
