Speech and Language Therapist

Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) seeks an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our well‑established Speech and Language Therapy team.

Main duties of the job

Provide assessment and intervention to adults with learning disabilities in Leeds who have communication or swallowing difficulties that cannot be met within mainstream services. Manage an identified caseload of clients and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary community learning disability team (including nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, dietitians, physiotherapists, support workers and psychiatrists).

Engage in monthly group clinical supervision, share best practice, and contribute to service development including training, outcome measures and research. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, practice development meetings and the AHP forum to support skill development.

Work Monday to Friday 9:00‑17:00, with full remote technology support (phones and laptops). Maintain competency in dysphagia, with an expectation to practise independently with a dysphagia caseload. Be a licensed driver and have access to a vehicle.

Requirements

Applicants may be current Band 5 Speech and Language Therapists looking to gain Band 6 experience, or established Band 6 clinicians.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and HCPC registered.
Skills
  • Enthusiasm for working with people with learning disabilities.
  • Must be a licensed driver with a vehicle.
Experience
  • Experience of working with a multi‑disciplinary team.
