About Our Opportunity

Working within the mission, vision, values and person-centred philosophy of the Agency, and under the direction of the Program Managers, the Regional Service Coordinator is responsible for coordinating client referrals from MCFD, including intake, assessment, and matching clients for individual and/or group services with Integration Support Workers (ISWs). This role is also responsible for the day-to- day support and guidance of Integration Support Workers.

The Regional Service Coordinator collaborates with other service providers to meet client service needs, and ensures referring social workers are kept up to date on service progress. The Regional Service Coordinator supports the Program Managers by providing input into the strategic direction of the program.

Work Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 35 hours per week, with some evening availability required

Salary: MGS 1 ($31.14-$34.52 per hour)

Location: 1638 East Broadway, Vancouver, BC, with possibility of hybrid work at home and in community

What do you need to succeed?

Education, Training, Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related discipline
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ recent experience working with children and youth with support needs
  • Minimum 1-year recent supervisory experience
  • Experience meeting with families and conducting client assessments to determine service needs
  • Experience with case management and liaison with community partners, i.e. MCFD Social Workers, Behavioural Consultants, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Psychiatrist, etc.

Role Qualifications and Skills include, but are not limited to

  • Awareness of different Development Disabilities and support strategies
  • Awareness of support strategies for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Collaborative Communication, including teamwork & cooperation, interpersonal communication, diversity and cultural agility;
    Awareness of Mental Health Diagnoses that co-exist with Developmental Disabilities (Dual Diagnosis)
  • Knowledge of up-to-date research and successful strategies for children and youth with challenging behaviors such as appropriate reinforcers, prompt fading, test analysis
  • Awareness of Child Welfare Act and the Child and Family Services Act regarding reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of MCFD services and navigation of their system to wrap around services for families
  • Computer skills including MS Word, database, and Excel
  • Client assessment and case planning skills
  • Proficiency facilitating meetings with clients, families, and staff
  • Sensitivity and diplomacy with clients and families in stressful situations
  • Ability to support staff to implement client behavior plans
  • Ability to structure attainable and measurable goals based on client’s needs and abilities
  • Commitment to Excellence, including results focus, client-centered service, planning and organizing, professional expertise and technological proficiency
