Pay Rate: £35 per hour

Team Overview

This role sits within the Adults Occupational Therapy Service under the Shared Staffing Arrangement between Richmond and Wandsworth Councils. The service supports adults with physical disabilities and older people, delivering strengths-based, person-centred interventions to maximise independence, safety, and wellbeing within the community.

You will be joining a progressive, integrated service working across both boroughs, contributing to a collaborative and innovative approach to Adult Social Care.

Role Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Occupational Therapy Service. The postholder will lead on Care Act assessments, support planning, and complex case management, while also providing professional leadership and supervision within the team.

You will manage a small but complex caseload, undertake specialist assessments, and support the operational delivery of the OT service across both boroughs.

Hybrid and flexible working arrangements are available.

Key Responsibilities

Deputise for and support the Assistant Service/Locality Manager in operational and professional leadership of the OT service
Provide supervision, guidance, and expert advice to Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, and social care assessors
Screen and prioritise incoming referrals, ensuring appropriate allocation and risk management
Allocate cases and authorise Occupational Therapy assessments and equipment provision
Undertake specialist Care Act assessments, support planning, and complex case management
Complete home-based assessments for individuals with complex physical disabilities
Carry a small caseload of complex cases requiring specialist intervention
Undertake complex moving and handling risk assessments, providing equipment, training, and Personal Handling Plans
Recommend and oversee provision of major adaptations, equipment, and housing solutions, including Disabled Facilities Grant applications
Provide advice and support to access teams, social care colleagues, and multidisciplinary partners
Ensure accurate, high-quality case recording in line with council and professional standards
Respond to urgent referrals and manage risk-based prioritisation of workload
Promote independence, personalisation, and strengths-based practice across all interventions
Work collaboratively with internal and external agencies to deliver integrated care planning

About the Role

This is a leadership-focused Occupational Therapy role combining clinical expertise, supervision, service coordination, and complex case management. You will play a key role in ensuring high-quality service delivery and supporting continuous improvement across the OT service.

The role operates within a hybrid working model, combining office-based work, home working, and community visits across Richmond and Wandsworth.

Essential Requirements

HCPC registered Occupational Therapist
Significant post-qualification experience within Adult Social Care (physical disabilities / older adults)
Strong experience in Care Act assessments, complex case management, and support planning
Proven experience in moving and handling risk assessments and equipment provision
Experience in supervising or mentoring staff
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014 and safeguarding frameworks
Experience working within multidisciplinary and integrated teams
Ability to manage complex risk and prioritise workload effectively

Salary

💷 Up to £35 per hour (depending on experience)
