As a Recreation Aide, you play a vital role in supporting and delivering engaging programs that enhance the well‑being of residents and foster a sense of community. You will foster a vibrant community that promotes meaningful relationships, individual choice, and a sense of belonging for all. You will assist in implementing recreation programming that provides a well‑rounded approach to well‑being, addressing the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual needs of residents.

Key Accountabilities- Build meaningful connections with residents to understand their interests, hobbies, and life experiences.
- Advocate for resident preferences, ensuring recreational activities reflect individual needs and choices.
- Encourage and involve residents in all aspects of planning and implementing recreation programs, fostering a sense of purpose and inclusion.
- Assist in the creation and coordination of a balanced recreation calendar that addresses the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual needs of residents.
- Explore and introduce new program ideas each month to keep activities fresh, engaging, and meaningful for residents.
- Assist in organizing special events and outings that create meaningful experiences and foster community connections for residents.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen service area to coordinate refreshments for special events, ensuring an enjoyable experience for residents.
- Ensure accurate attendance tracking and assist with documentation of resident participation.
- Maintain up to date paperwork on residents such as Resident Leisure Biographies, PIPA forms, Outings Consent, etc. (If required)
- Send monthly recreation summary report to the Home Office Designate. (If required)
- Assist in the recruitment, training, supervision, and retention of volunteers, ensuring they are meaningfully engaged in enhancing resident experiences. (If required)
- Develop and maintain recreation program plans that provide clear guidelines on how each program is structured and facilitated. (If required)
- Adhere to and enforce emergency management plans, infection control protocols, WHMIS, and health & safety wellness strategies.
- Facilitate effective communication among care partners, residents, and families.
- Assist in managing inventory and supplies.
- Identify health, safety, or maintenance concerns and report them for timely resolution.
- Ensure living and service areas are clean, organized, and conducive to engagement and comfort.
- Support community‑wide initiatives that enhance companionship, purpose, and meaning in daily life.
- Promote a culture of engagement and spontaneity, creating opportunities for residents to thrive.
- Perform additional duties as required to support community well‑being and engagement.
- Grade 12 diploma or recognized equivalent.
- Education or training in recreation or a related field is an asset.
- Current clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector check.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Experience in assisting with recreation programming.
- Demonstrated ability to engage residents through interactive and meaningful activities.
