Are you a Clinical Psychologist or CBT Therapist looking to develop your clinical skills? If so, then we would like to talk to you.
We are looking to recruit two enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Psychologist or CBT Therapist to join our team – one 0.8 WTE and one 1.0 WTE. These posts would be suitable for a Clinical Psychologist or CBT Therapist wishing to develop their skills in working with people with eating disorders. There will be opportunities for development and training as part of this post.
This post will be based at Bitterne, Southampton, and may also include some remote working.
You will provide evidence‑based psychological therapies to people experiencing a wide range of eating disorders, many of whom present with comorbid mental health difficulties. The role involves delivering individual and group interventions, as well as some joint work with our day service staff. You will also be involved in providing consultation, training and supervision to others within and outside the team.
You will join a supportive team of clinicians, committed to delivering high quality care and promoting recovery. You will receive regular supervision and will have the opportunity to join our reflective practice group. Within the service we offer a range of evidence‑based interventions, including CBT‑ED, DBT, SSCM, MANTRA and psychodynamic psychotherapy. We also work closely with families and carers.

Person Specification Qualifications- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
- HCPC Registration.
- Pre‑qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of patients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in‑patient settings.
- Experience of using CBT with patients for individual and/or group work.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of patient groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
- Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non‑professional groups.
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
- Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi‑media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings.
- Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.
- Car driver and/or ability and willingness to travel to locations throughout the organisation.
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc).
- High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the patient group and mental health.
- Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£49,387 to £56,515 a year – please note for part‑time hours the salary will be pro rata.
