About the RoleThis unique post combines a specialist role in bed grab handle review project across the Royal Devon University Healthcare (RDUH) footprint, ensuring all previously issued equipment has up‑to‑date risk assessments in line with MHRA guidance, with a Community Rehabilitation Occupational Therapy role within the Community Rehabilitation Teams (CRT) in the Mid locality, supporting patients to maximise independence and safety at home.
This blended role offers the opportunity to influence practice at scale while maintaining clinical skills and direct patient contact.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the review and update process for bed grab handles, ensuring compliance with current MHRA guidance.
- Work across the RDUH footprint, liaising with community teams, equipment providers, and services.
- Cross‑reference equipment records with electronic patient records.
- Communicate with patients, carers, and families to assess ongoing need, complete risk assessments, and promote safe use.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including community nurses, therapists, and social care colleagues.
- Maintain accurate documentation and provide regular progress updates on the project.
- Support the delivery of process updates to both acute and community teams.
- Deliver Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention within the Community Rehabilitation Team.
- Support individuals with rehabilitation goals to maximise independence and reduce hospital admissions.
- Undertake functional assessments, equipment provision, and reablement‑focused interventions.
- Work collaboratively within the MDT to deliver coordinated, patient‑centred care.
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement within CRT.

Full‑time (37.5 hours per week), flexible working pattern to be agreed.
Hybrid Working:

Fixed Term contract until 01/07/2027. For current NHS employees this post could be a secondment opportunity.
Salary- Band 6: £38,682 - £46,580 per annum pro rata
