We are seeking to recruit skilled, dedicated, committed and accomplished Accredited Clinical Coders to join our established Clinical Coding Team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Trust (ESNEFT).
We seek candidates with clinical coding experience across all specialties in an acute setting and a desire to further their career.
The department has an internal Clinical Coding Audit Program and offers comprehensive training for all coders to develop existing skills and learn new ones.
Excellent communication, organisational skills and teamwork are required to deliver timely and accurate coded data and meet the Trust's deadlines.
We now offer full-time Remote Coding.
Main duties of the job- Abstract and analyse complex clinical information from patient records and translate this into a coded format in line with national coding standards; maintain a high level of medical terminology and anatomy knowledge.
- Enter the final encoded data onto the appropriate computer systems to meet statutory information and payment flow requirements.
- Work as part of a team of experienced trained and trainee staff and rotate between duties across all specialties.
- Respond to enquiries from all parts of the hospital.
- Locate source documents; read histology, cytology and radiology reports.
- Analyse complex medical information from paper documents and other computer systems.
- Act as a mentor and assist in the education of less experienced coders.
- Remain aware of wider information and patient administration service systems.
- 5 GCSEs including English and Maths or equivalent attainment.
- Accredited Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC).
- Human Sciences GCSE or equivalent.
- ECDL certification.
- Substantial Clinical Coding expertise across all specialties and levels of complexity; proven via portfolio of evidence or internal examination.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
- Experience with PAS or equivalent system.
- Good experience of Microsoft Office.
- Minimum two years of relevant experience.
- Ability to analyse and abstract complex records.
- Strong keyboard and data entry skills.
- Effective communication with staff at all levels.
- Self learning and research capability.
