Neurosurgery Bookings Coordinator

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Neurosurgery Department for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our very busy and dedicated admissions booking team.

Main duties of the job

You will provide administrative support alongside our booking team to ensure our patients are booked for preoperative assessments and subsequent surgery.

You will be expected to work efficiently, with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. You will have the ability to use your initiative and manage, prioritise and complete your workload while working under pressure.

Home working would be available to the successful candidate once the training period has been completed.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Educated to A level or NVQ level 3 Customer Service/ Business Admin /ITQ or equivalent
  • Typing qualification or equivalent experience (if applicable)
  • Specific technical/professional qualification (if applicable)
  • Evidence of CPD
Experience
  • Experience of working in a busy clerical/office environment or reception service
  • Prioritising, planning and organising own tasks
  • Working within guidelines
  • Experience of dealing with difficult situations and confrontations
  • Data entry experience and documentation
  • Experience of IT packages – Microsoft office
  • Experience of producing documents to a high standard
  • Previous experience of working in NHS
  • Previous experience of working with medical records
  • Experience of Supervising staff
  • Experience of liaising directly with clinical staff
  • Experience with in Neurosciences, surgical specialties and/or theatre bookings
Knowledge
  • Basic Knowledge of waiting lists and booking procedures
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
  • Sound knowledge of office procedures
  • Understanding of customer service
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Knowledge of the Trust including awareness of priorities
  • Knowledge of Trust information systems
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Awareness of NHS Targets (especially RTT pathways and waiting lists)
Skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills including telephone, email, face to face
  • Ability to organise and manage own time keeping to schedule and deadlines
