At Asda Opticians, the health and wellbeing of our customers is our top priority. We deliver high quality patient care and service. A typical day involves completing eye examinations, contact lens and extended service examinations. You will work alongside our Dispensing Optician Manager to support colleagues with training, coaching and maintaining departmental standards.

Due to our extended service contracts with the NHS, we are committed to delivering a wide range of care for the treatment and monitoring of eye conditions and will support you to gain any additional accreditations you may need to deliver these services.

We provide training and a CPD programme, with protected time to complete further accreditations, funded by Asda.

We offer the opportunity to supervise students for GOC registered professionals.

We provide full support from in‑store, regional and home office teams for clinical or service based queries.

We are seeking a dedicated Optometrist to join our dynamic team, committed to excellence in healthcare. You will use your clinical skills and passion to deliver a memorable customer experience.

You'll be:
  • A fully qualified optometrist registered with the GOC
  • A registered performer with your NHS area team or health board
  • MECs or WECs accredited (or willing to gain accreditation within 12 months of joining Asda – funded and supported by us)
  • On track to meet the statutory points requirement for CPD
  • Able to use your skills and passion for the role to deliver a memorable customer experience
  • Passionate about developing new patient services and shaping the culture of the department

Applicants must be registered with the General Optical Council (GOC) for the relevant professional role type and have evidence of Right To Work in the UK. Evidence of being on the NHS performer list and two clinical references is required. If applying in Wales, evidence of WECS accreditation & WGOS module accreditation is required.

  • Discretionary company bonus
  • Company pension up to 7% matched
  • 15% colleague discount in store and online
  • Free access to wellbeing services such as Stream, 24/7 virtual GP, counselling, health and dental cash plans and a 24/7 employee assistance helpline, alongside discounts across a range of services and activities
  • Your professional indemnity insurance
  • GOC fees paid
  • CET package
  • Flexible working patterns in accordance with 7 days opening
  • Asda Allies Inclusion Networks to celebrate differences and inclusion
  • Excellent parental leave policies, including maternity & adoption leave, paternity leave, shared parental leave, neonatal care leave, and support for fertility treatments
