Healthcare Scientist (Health Protection)

Armed with a post‑graduate qualification or equivalent experience in health or research, and a proven record in health protection, epidemiology or public health, you will work across four of ARHAI Scotland’s five Priority Programmes –
NPGE (National Policies, Guidance and Evidence),
ICBED (Infection Control in Built Environment & Decontamination),
CHIPC (Community Antimicrobial Resistance & Healthcare Associated Infection) and Clinical Assurance
.

• Support consultants, programme leads and senior nursing and scientific staff in the provision of specialised information, advice and support to stakeholders.
• Produce scientific literature reviews, including the analysis, interpretation and presentation of epidemiological and surveillance data.
• Participate in relevant research activities and contribute to evidence‑based guidance development.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver ARHAI Scotland priority services and promote a safer, healthier NHS Scotland.

• Post‑graduate qualification or equivalent experience in a health or research field.
• Demonstrated experience in health protection, epidemiology or public health.
• Excellent leadership skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills and an interest in animal health are preferred.
• Knowledge of NHS operations is advantageous.
• Commitment to the NHS values of respect, openness and integrity.

This is a national post. The contract location is Glasgow, but the role is hybrid with significant scope for working from home and other NHS PSD buildings across Scotland where required.

Work pattern is flexible between Monday and Friday, 36 hours per week.
