Medicine for Older People and TIA Clinic Coordinators
We are looking to recruit 2x part time or 1 full time clinic coordinator.
The post holder will have responsibility for coordinating a comprehensive and efficient organisation of the TIA clinic service across the BNSSG area, alongside the Medicine for Older People Outpatient services within UHBW. The post holder will provide a central point of contact for all patients and clinical staff related to the TIA service and MFOP Services alongside other coordinators in the patch.
The post holder will be coordinating the TIA clinics at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General Hospital and will be required to work Monday to Friday. Once trained on TIA Services this will include coordinating clinics for the BRI, WGH and Southmead Hospital sites and across 7 days a week working weekends. (To remain based on the BRI site and will be on a rota basis).
The Post Holder will also coordinate the Medicine for Older People clinics held at the BRI and South Bristol Community Hospital.
Main duties of the jobTo support the triaging of referrals by liaising with key clinical staff
Manage patient communications via telephone and through Trust systems to create letters, emails and text reminders
To act as a point of contact for queries from clinical and non-clinical staff
Liaise with clinical and non-clinical teams across the Trust and BNSSG area via telephone and email
Escalate patient queries, capacity problems and general issues to the role's line manager or relevant clinical staff as appropriate
Communicate changes to clinics and appointments to patients as instructed, often at short notice
Coordinate the whole TIA clinic pathway ensuring an effective process across all sites.
Coordinate the whole Medicine for Older People pathway from initial referral to discharge in line with the Trust's outpatient booking procedure and escalating issues to the roles line manager when needed.
Person Specification Knowledge- Experience of dealing with the public, telephone or in person
- Previous NHS experience
- Knowledge of RTT
- Effective and polite manner when dealing with people
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work effectively in a busy team
- Working knowledge of outpatient policies and procedures
- Educated to GCSE grade c or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
