Position Summary

Neonatal Principal Clinical Psychologist
Band 8b
0.6 WTE
Permanent

We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to provide assessment, formulation and intervention to families accessing the NICU, support staff teams, develop psychology within an innovative multidisciplinary team, represent the LMNS in the local neonatal workstream and provide supervision to other local clinical psychologists.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver assessment, formulation and intervention to families accessing the NICU.
  • Support and develop multidisciplinary staff teams providing care in a challenging but rewarding setting.
  • Represent the Local Mental Health Service (LMNS) in the local neonatal workstream.
  • Provide clinical supervision to other clinical psychologists working locally.
  • Work closely with the perinatal and maternal mental health psychology team and receive supervision from a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
  • Support the Neonatal Network Lead in achieving service improvement objectives.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of professional development and CPD opportunities for staff.
Work Setting

The Neonatal Unit at Royal Stoke University Hospital is a busy Level 3 NICU with 26 cots (10 intensive care, 6 high dependency, 14 special care) and a 10‑bedded Transitional Care Unit. It provides care for babies born between 22 weeks and over 42 weeks gestation and has approximately 6,000 births per year with around 600 NICU admissions annually.
