NHS Talking Therapies Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

We are looking for a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) to join our established team at Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust. The role offers access to bespoke CPD training, regular supervision and flexible working arrangements.

• Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.
• Assess and support people with common mental health problems in the self‑management of their recovery.
• Deliver low‑intensity treatments, primarily by telephone and in groups, with some face‑to‑face work.
• Conduct patient‑centred interviews to identify goals and assess risk to self and others.
• Determine the suitability of new referrals, adhering to department protocols, and refer unsuitable clients to other services or step up treatment intensity.
• Provide information and support for evidence‑based high‑volume, low‑intensity psychological treatments, including guided self‑help computerised CBT and pharmacological options.
• Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary.
• Adhere to an agreed activity contract regarding the number of client contacts and clinical sessions per week to minimise waiting times and maintain accessibility.
• Attend multidisciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
• Complete all data‑collection requirements within the service.

• Degree in Psychology, social sciences, health or an equivalent level through relevant experience and accredited courses.
• Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) Certificate in Low‑Intensity Psychological Interventions.
• Completed the IAPT top‑up training.
• Completed IAPT supervisor training (desirable).

• Evidence of therapeutic work with people who have experienced mental health problems.
• Understanding of anxiety and depression as they present in primary care.
• Experience facilitating psycho‑educational groups.

• Registered as a PWP with the BABCP or BPS.
• Demonstrates an understanding of evidence‑based psychological therapies and their application in this post.

• High standards in written communication.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

£32,073 to £39,043 per annum (pro rata)

Full time, 22.5 to 37.5 hours per week or Trust Bank as required.
