We are offering a Band 7–8a Preceptorship in Family Safeguarding Service. The role supports clinical and counselling psychologists in providing specialist psychological assessment and interventions to adults and parents facing severe mental health, substance misuse or domestic abuse problems.
The post is permanently seconded from the Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and based within the Family Safeguarding Service of Surrey County Council. You will work in multidisciplinary teams, supervised by the Lead Clinical Psychologist.
Permit for community locations across East Surrey. Candidates must hold a valid driving licence and have unrestricted use of a car or motorcycle for work.
Main duties of the jobKey Responsibilities
- Adhere to professional code of conduct at all times.
- Deliver specialist psychological assessment of adults with mental health difficulties, using structured and semi‑structured methods, neuropsychological assessment, and formulate comprehensive psychological models.
- Provide specialist psychological services to adults with complex, severe and enduring difficulties within Family Safeguarding Teams.
- Deliver direct and indirect specialist psychological interventions, exercising autonomous clinical judgment.
- Lead audit, research and service development activities to improve clinical effectiveness and service functioning.
- Supervise and support psychological therapy provided by multidisciplinary team members.
- Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or equivalent).
- HCPC Registration as a Psychologist.
- Proven experience working with adults/parents experiencing mental health difficulties.
- Deep knowledge of at least two psychotherapy models and evidence base.
- Up‑to‑date familiarity with policies and guidelines for adult mental health.
- Experience supervising qualified psychologists and offering expert consultation to non‑psychology colleagues.
- Managing psychology waiting lists in the sector.
- Involvement in service development initiatives to improve quality.
- Clinical supervision experience; interest/experience in child and family settings.
