Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Psychologist is a member of the interdisciplinary team. The incumbent will collaborate with other team members while providing assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and psychotherapy. Ability to conduct both individual and group treatment is an asset.
The Clinical Psychologist will primarily provide psychological services to patients within the Psychiatric Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and also provide consultation, assessment, and treatment to the Forensic Assessment Correctional Treatment Unit, Transition Bungalow Program, and Community Program. Duties include conducting comprehensive assessment of violence risk, personality, and cognitive skills, other psychological assessments (e.g., neuropsychological screening), provision of treatment through both individual and group settings, participation in the predoctoral internship program, supervision of practicum students, and participation and testimony before the Criminal Code Review Board of Nova Scotia and as an expert witness.

- Recognized MSc in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university program
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Psychiatrists (NSRP) and in good standing
- A minimum of two years relevant clinical experience (preferred)
- Preference for individuals with violence risk assessment training/experience (incl. VRAG-R; PCL-R-2; HCR-20-V3; START) and forensic inpatient setting experience
- Formal training and clinical experience in conducting psychological and cognitive assessment and consultation
- Demonstrated maturity and capacity to work effectively with resistant and challenging client groups
- Self‑directed with ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in challenging clinical situations and crises
- Demonstrated ability and expertise in developing and presenting education programs to health care professionals and community organizations
- Experience with providing clinical supervision to students from psychology and other mental health disciplines; willingness to incorporate such responsibilities into routine work
- Competencies in other languages an asset;
French preferred
- Permanent full‑time position; 75 hours biweekly

$42.21 – $58.30 hourly

Masters Registered (steps 5‑9): $51.22 – $58.30 hourly
