Recruiting a Clinical Scientist or Therapeutic Radiographer for the National Radiotherapy Trials Quality Assurance (RTTQA) Group, based at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. The role involves leading QC and QA activities for national radiotherapy trials, developing protocols, conducting audits, and providing training and support to trial sites.

Engage early in clinical trial development, supporting practice‑changing developments in proton beam therapy, adaptive treatments, MR‑Linac and SA . Monitor quality of radiotherapy delivery for multicentre trials, perform or assist with RT QA, including protocol development, contour and planning reviews, dosimetry audit, and conduct workshops and educational sessions.

• Appropriate qualification for registration as an HCPC registered radiographer or clinical scientist (radiotherapy physics).
• Registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer or Clinical Scientist (or eligible to apply within 1 year).
• Post‑graduate qualification in a relevant subject or evidence of study at this level.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

• Experience with in a radiotherapy or radiotherapy physics environment.
• Specialist training and practical experience on linear accelerators, treatment planning systems and dosimetry.
• Training in stereotactic physics or brachytherapy.
• Experience of multimodality imaging and adaptive treatment delivery techniques.
• Experience of rotational techniques, gating and/or stereotactic radiotherapy.
• Clinical trial work.

• Communicate complex information to other professional groups.
• Present complex information in scientific papers and at national/international meetings.
• Prepare and collaborate on papers for publication.
• Use judgement involving complex facts that require analysis and comparison of options.
• Create spreadsheets, electronic documents and individual 3D computerised treatment plans.
• High physical accuracy and dexterity for equipment manipulation and measurement.
• Work independently, organise workload, follow protocols, and report findings.
• Concentration for report writing and analysis; manage changing priorities.
• Experience of publishing and presenting scientific papers.
• Use of macros in Excel and relevant computer programming skills.

• Specialist knowledge of planning and treatment of patients.
• Knowledge of patient and machine dosimetry QC in radiotherapy.
• Understanding of risks arising from planning system errors, equipment failure and treatment errors.
• Broad knowledge of radiotherapy techniques and clinical applications.
• Understanding of relevant legislation, national standards, guidelines and professional reports.

• Highly self‑motivated.
• Ability to work with radiotherapy and physics equipment.
• Prepared to interact with cancer patients and handle distressing circumstances.
• Understanding of radiation hazard and ionising radiation safety.
• Availability for out‑of‑hours work; occasional Saturday working.

• Manual handling of moderately heavy loads (e.g., dosimetry phantoms).
