Specialist Occupational Therapist

Fixed Term 12 Months | Part Time 22.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our established Burns and Plastics Therapy Team, providing maternity leave cover.

We are seeking a motivated, flexible and innovative Occupational Therapist to join our friendly, supportive, and integrated Burns and Plastics team. This role offers the opportunity to work within a regional burns unit as part of an experienced multi-disciplinary team, supporting children aged 0-16 years with burn injuries.

In addition, the post holder will support the plastic surgery service, covering elective procedures, upper and lower limb trauma, and hand injuries.

About You

  • You will bring a broad range of clinical experience, strong team-working skills, and experience in supervising assistant staff and students.
  • We offer a strong commitment to professional training and development, alongside experienced peer support within a collaborative and forward-thinking team.
  • HCPC registration. Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy. Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at recent, relevant postgraduate courses and in-service training. Portfolio evidence of reflective practice.
Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Team Leader , some of your responsibilities will include:

  • To provide a specialised and high standard of occupational therapy care as a member of the therapy team and multi-professional teams within the sub specialities of burns & plastics
  • To perform advanced therapeutic assessments of children presenting with a wide range of conditions and problems
  • To provide a diagnosis of the problem related to therapeutic intervention
  • To develop highly skilled knowledge in order to deliver an individualised treatment programme for each child.
  • To independently manage a personal caseload of children working without direct supervisions
  • To access the advice, training and support from more senior therapists available but also undertake clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To participate in the Burns, Orthopaedics, Plastics and limb reconstruction Sunday working rota.
