Position: MST Can Therapist

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Worker Type: Hybrid Worker

Salary: Starting Salary is £40,777 (Level one) rising to £44,075 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time) (Pay award pending)

About the Role

Nottingham City Council's Multi Systemic Therapy Child Abuse and Neglect (MST CAN) Team is seeking an MST CAN Therapist (1 post). MST CAN is a home‑based intensive treatment for families with children under a Child Protection Plan for neglect or physical harm. The role involves delivering an evidence‑based model, working with families in their home, school and community, and being available 24/7 through an on‑call facility.

Applicants should hold a professional qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Clinical/Forensic Psychology or other equivalent) and have experience with cognitive‑behavioural or pragmatic behavioural intervention models. Full training and ongoing professional development in the MST CAN model will be provided, with weekly supervision from the MST CAN Manager and clinical consultation from MST Services.

About You

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Qualified to postgraduate level in a relevant field such as social work, mental health nursing, clinical/forensic psychology, health specialism or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience of the case management process including assessment, analysis, planning, intervention, review and how it promotes good outcomes for children and families.
  • Significant experience of family‑based interventions with young people.
  • Experience of direct use of a therapeutic model such as CBT, SFBT, systemic family therapy or behavioural approaches.
  • Sophisticated understanding and demonstrable experience of safeguarding and risk management for children and young people.

A DBS enhanced check is required for this post.

The role requires participation in the on‑call rota.
