Position: Senior Pharmacy Technician (Primary Care)

The role:

Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Pharmacy Technician to join the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Prescribing Support Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering prescribing initiatives and supporting the safe, effective and evidence-based use of medicines across primary care. As a member of the Prescribing Team, you will work closely with GP practices, care homes and multidisciplinary teams to improve medicines management, support the delivery of the pharmacotherapy service as part of the GP contract, and help provide excellent patient care.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your career in Primary Care, working collaboratively with GP Practices, Community Pharmacies, Care Homes and other healthcare settings across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
  • This is a permanent post working full-time hours; these hours will be worked Monday to Friday
  • This post covers Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) and will predominantly be based at the Pharmacy Hub in Renfrewshire House, Paisley. You will also work across GP practices and care homes within Renfrewshire HSCP as required.
Key responsibilities:

As a key member of the Prescribing Support Team, you will promote and implement cost-effective, evidence-based prescribing within GP practices and care homes across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Working alongside GPs and primary care multidisciplinary teams, you will support improvements in medicines management, contribute to the delivery of the pharmacotherapy service under the GP contract, and provide support to patients with their medicines.

The role requires excellent communication, negotiation, organisational and IT skills, together with the ability to influence practice and support service improvement.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • NVQ Level 3, BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences, or an equivalent Pharmacy Technician qualification.
  • Experience of working in Primary Care or as part of a multidisciplinary team is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Ability to influence change and work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
