The role:

A vacancy for a B7 CBT Therapist or Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (CAAP) has arisen within the board-wide Psychological Therapies Groups Service (PTGS). You’ll join an experienced and dedicated team comprising of Psychological Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and admin staff and deliver a range of high-quality, evidence-based psychological therapy group programmes to individuals receiving input from any one of the Board’s Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs).

You’ll be line managed by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist/Team Lead and receive clinical supervision from a Clinical Psychologist within the team.

You’ll have either a post-graduate diploma in CBT from a BABCP-approved training course or the MSc in Applied Psychology in Primary Care from the University of Dundee which confers eligibility to be employed as a CAAP in NHS Scotland. You’ll have experience in adult mental health, gained via training or post-qualification experience.

You’ll have a genuine interest and competencies in the delivery of structured psychological therapies, ideally in a group context, to adults with moderately severe mental health difficulties.

A blended working pattern, including time working from home and time working from the team’s base(s), is possible. Candidates interested in working part-time are welcome to apply, as the service is able to consider two part-time postholders, as long as the entire WTE of the vacancy is filled, Monday-Friday 9-5pm. Key responsibilities:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapist:

The post holder is responsible for autonomous cognitive behavioural assessment, clinical decision making, treatment selection and treatment evaluation as falls within the remit of the PTGS
To develop cognitive-behavioural formulations of patients’ difficulties using judgements requiring the analysis and integration of a wide range of information.
To provide a cognitive-behavioural therapy service tailored to the needs of individuals attending the PTGS.
To participate in joint working with other healthcare professionals as required and agreed with the Team Lead
To provide advice, guidance, consultation and teaching, as required, on matters relating to cognitive behavioural therapy, to other professions including mental health care practitioners within the CMHTs.
To participate in service evaluation and audit programmes in relation to own practice and the needs of the PTGS when required, including monitoring adherence to clinical governance guidelines and standards.

Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology:

To work within a multidisciplinary team (or equivalent) providing evidence-based treatments for individuals with mild to moderate psychological disorders. This will involve a mix of individual clinical work and involvement in the provision of group interventions.
