Assistant Psychologist - Specialist Children’s Services

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join a Tier 3 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team within Specialist Children’s Services. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of an innovative and developing service, supporting the delivery of high-quality psychological care to children and young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties.

As an Assistant Psychologist, you will support qualified Psychologists in the delivery of psychological assessments and interventions, working within an agreed framework and under appropriate clinical supervision. You will contribute to the ongoing development of CAMHS services and have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a range of professionals across health, education and other partner agencies.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

• This is a permanent post
• Working full time hours (36), these hours will be worked Monday-Friday
• This post is based within The West Centre a Tier 3 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team within Specialist Children’s Services. The role involves working across relevant care settings as required by the service.

Key responsibilities:

You will provide support to enhance the professional psychological care of children and young people across all sectors of care. Working under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist, you will assist with psychological assessments and deliver psychological interventions in line with agreed care plans, team policies and procedures. You will also contribute to clinically related administration, audits, data collection, research and service development projects.

The role will involve supporting teaching activities, project work and opportunities for peer supervision, while working collaboratively with colleagues across a range of disciplines and agencies.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• Honours degree in Psychology at 2:1 or above.
• Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a qualified Psychologist.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to supporting children, young people and their families/carers.

Desirable

• Previous relevant NHS experience.
• Experience working with children, young people and their families/carers.
• Experience of psychological assessment or intervention delivery.
• Experience of audit, research or service improvement projects.
