Senior Occupational Therapist (Hospital Team)

Location:

Maidenhead and surrounding areas  Rate:  £38.00 per hour  DBS:  Enhanced DBS with Barred List Check Required
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced  Senior Occupational Therapist  to join a dynamic Hospital Team within Adult Social Care.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Occupational Therapist to play a key role in supporting hospital discharges, promoting independence, and delivering person-centred interventions for adults with physical disabilities, frailty, long-term conditions, and age-related needs.
Working closely with health and social care professionals, you will manage complex cases, provide specialist assessments, mentor colleagues, and contribute to service development while ensuring positive outcomes for residents and their carers.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality Occupational Therapy and Reablement services across complex and high-risk cases.
Complete person-centred assessments, strength-based assessments, and outcome-focused interventions.
Undertake specialist assessments including:
Functional assessments
Manual handling assessments
Postural and seating assessments
Environmental assessments
Safeguarding enquiries
Major and minor adaptations
Assess and prescribe specialist equipment and assistive technology to maximise independence.
Support safe and timely hospital discharges through integrated working with health colleagues.
Work collaboratively with residents, carers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes.
Manage and prioritise a complex caseload effectively.
Participate in duty and triage services, providing support and guidance to Occupational Therapy Assistants and colleagues.
Contribute to Disabled Facilities Grant assessments and rehousing recommendations.
Chair meetings, coordinate multi-agency interventions, and lead on specific projects and service improvements.
Provide professional advice, mentoring, supervision, and leadership within the team.
Assist with complaint investigations and risk management planning.
Requirements/Essential Qualifications
BSc (Hons) or MSc in Occupational Therapy.
Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
Essential Experience
Significant post-qualification Occupational Therapy experience within adult services.
Minimum of 3 years' experience managing complex cases and providing leadership or supervisory support.
Experience working within Adult Social Care, hospital discharge teams, community services, rehabilitation, or residential care settings.
Experience undertaking complex assessments and delivering outcome-focused interventions.
Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams and across partner agencies.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
Strong knowledge of:
Care Act 2014
Mental Capacity Act
Safeguarding legislation and best practice
Clinical expertise in:
Physical disabilities
Frailty
Dementia
Neurological conditions
Long-term health conditions
Experience prescribing specialist equipment and assistive technology.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong report writing and assessment skills.
Competent IT and electronic case management skills.
Additional Requirements
Full UK Driving Licence.
Access to a vehicle for business use.
Ability to travel across the borough and attend hospital, community, and home-based assessments.
Enhanced DBS with Barred List Check.
