Job summary

As part of
the redesign of the Learning Disability (LD) CAMHS service we are recruiting to
a full-time psychology development post (band 7 to 8a).The
postholder will initially be employed at band 7 and supported, through the use
of an individualised development plan, to attain the skills necessary to meet
the criteria to move into the band 8a post.

The small
LD CAMHS team now sits within Learning Disability Services and this fresh start
means it is a great time to join it to influence its future development. It also means there is now a clear learning
disability psychology structure to offer supervision and support to the
postholder and to ensure that time for their own professional development will remain
protected. There will
be flexibility in terms of agreeing a working pattern and official base, with a
balance of working from home. Although
advertised as a full-time post we will consider 30 hours or more.

Please do contact
us to find out more.

Main duties of the jobThe
postholder will work with children and young people with learning disabilities
and a range of psychological needs, as part of a multidisciplinary team. Through
regular supervision they will be supported to further develop their skills in
working with people with more complex difficulties and in areas where the
evidence base is less clear. Key parts
of the role include contributing to the healthy psychological functioning of
the team and developing good working relationships with colleagues from a range
of agencies. There will
be opportunities for the postholder to engage in research and projects to help
improve the service offered and to link in with the wider learning disability
service to support their own ongoing professional development. There will be
full support to develop the clinical and leadership skills necessary to meet
the criteria for transition to the Band 8a post.

We
are more than happy to discuss this in more detail.
