Health Care Support Worker - Community Mental Health Team

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. As an integral member of the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), the post-holder will work within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating compassionate and recovery-focused care. They will contribute to the care and support of individuals referred to the service, delivering person-centred interventions that promote strengths, recovery, and self-management. The role involves working collaboratively with patients, carers, and other professionals while carrying out duties independently and in line with relevant legislation, policies, and clinical standards.

Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.

All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

• Contribute to the care and support of people referred to the CMHT.
• Deliver care as part of agreed care plans using a strengths-based, recovery-focused approach.
• Promote service user involvement and support self-management.
• Work independently without direct supervision while maintaining professional standards.
• Build effective partnerships with patients, carers, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.
• Deliver care and support in community and home-based settings.
• Participate in regular line management and clinical supervision.
• Support the CMHT's role in providing care for individuals with complex mental health needs and associated risks.
• Assist in the design, implementation, and review of comprehensive health and social care packages.
• Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and carers.
• Contribute to the delivery of accessible, high-quality mental health care while maintaining confidentiality and respecting patient dignity.
• Deliver interventions based on individual assessment and matched-care principles.

• Understanding of strengths-based and recovery-focused approaches to mental health care.
• Knowledge of person-centred care planning and self-management principles.
• Awareness of relevant legislative frameworks, clinical policies, and professional standards.
• Understanding of multidisciplinary and integrated team working within mental health services.
• Knowledge of risk assessment and management for individuals with complex mental health needs.
• Ability to work effectively with patients, carers, families, and partner agencies.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development through regular clinical supervision and caseload management supervision.
• Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding, and patient-centred therapeutic relationships.
