Senior Pharmacovigilance Specialist

About the Role

Our client seeks a diligent and experienced Senior Pharmacovigilance Specialist to join their safety surveillance team based in Pretoria. This role is integral to ensuring the safety of patients by monitoring, detecting, and preventing adverse drug reactions. You will be responsible for managing and assessing safety data, ensuring compliance with global regulatory requirements, and contributing to the overall risk management of pharmaceutical products.

This position requires a sharp analytical mind and a commitment to patient safety, working within a dedicated team committed to ethical drug use and regulatory compliance.

• Collect, process, and assess adverse event reports from various sources (spontaneous, literature, clinical trials).
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of safety information to regulatory authorities worldwide.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of pharmacovigilance databases and systems.
• Perform signal detection activities and risk-benefit assessments for assigned products.
• Collaborate with regulatory affairs, medical affairs, and other departments on safety-related matters.
• Contribute to the preparation of periodic safety update reports (PSURs/PBRERs).

• Degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, or a related healthcare/life science field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmacovigilance and drug safety surveillance.
• Thorough knowledge of global pharmacovigilance regulations and guidelines (e.g., GVP, FDA, EMA).
• Experience with safety databases (e.g., Argus, ARISg) and data analysis.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
