Position: Specialist Occupational Therapist - Community Older Adult Mental Health Team

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Older People’s Mental Health Service within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work with older adults experiencing mental health conditions and dementia, delivering specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation within a community setting. You will play a key role in supporting individuals to maximise their independence, wellbeing and quality of life while working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, carers and partner agencies.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Part-time, Permanent
You will be based at Dumbarton Joint Hospital
Shift Pattern: TBC
Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key responsibilities:

Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessments, interventions and rehabilitation programmes for older adults with mental health conditions and dementia
Manage a complex caseload, prioritising patient needs and ensuring timely, person-centred care
Provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to junior staff, support workers and students
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, carers and external agencies to achieve the best outcomes for patients
Contribute to service development, clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives
Support crisis intervention and rapid response activity within the community mental health service when required
Deliver training, education and specialist advice to colleagues, patients and carers to promote evidence-based practice

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy with current HCPC registration
Significant experience within mental health services, particularly Older Adult Mental Health and Dementia Care
Highly specialist knowledge and application of occupational therapy practice within mental health settings
Leadership or supervisory experience with the ability to support, develop and motivate others
Knowledge and experience of clinical governance, service improvement and evidence-based practice
Excellent communication, organisational and partnership working skills with a patient-focused approach
Current UK driving licence and confidence using IT systems and electronic patient records
