Job Description Summary

Are you passionate about shaping the future of cancer care? As a Global Medical Affairs Director, Oncology, you will play a pivotal role in driving medical strategy for innovative oncology programmes and helping bring transformational medicines to patients worldwide. Working across the asset lifecycle, you will partner with research, development, and medical teams to generate impactful evidence, influence clinical practice, and ensure the patient voice remains at the centre of decision-making.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead complex global programmes, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and advance scientific innovation across Oncology.

Location

London (The Westworks), United Kingdom #LI-Hybrid Hybrid (12 days per month on-site if living within 50 miles of our London office) #LI-Remote Remote (if living beyond 50 miles of our London office) This role is based in London, UK. Novartis is unable to offer relocation support for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of global medical affairs strategies across the Solid Tumors portfolio.
  • Shape integrated evidence generation plans to address unmet medical needs and improve patient outcomes.
  • Drive the design and execution of innovative studies, including real-world evidence and non-interventional research.
  • Partner with research, development, and international medical teams to influence strategy across the asset lifecycle.
  • Develop scientific communication, publication, and medical education plans that advance scientific understanding and clinical practice.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with oncology experts, investigators, and scientific leaders globally.
  • Represent Global Medical Affairs in cross-functional governance forums and strategic portfolio discussions.
  • Provide medical leadership on launch readiness, evidence dissemination, market access, and reimbursement initiatives for oncology assets.
  • Champion the patient perspective by ensuring patient needs inform evidence generation and medical strategy.
  • Ensure all medical affairs activities are delivered with the highest standards of scientific excellence, quality, ethics, and compliance.
Essential for the role
  • Medical Doctor, Doctor of Philosophy, or Doctor of Pharmacy qualification in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Significant experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or a related function within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong understanding of oncology and the evolving treatment landscape.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute medical strategies that drive scientific and patient impact.
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional projects within a global matrix environment.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence generation, clinical research methodologies, and scientific communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility and influence with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking skills, with fluency in English.
Desirable for the role
  • Experience with in Solid Tumours and a strong understanding of the oncology ecosystem.
  • Global launch, pre-launch, or early asset experience within Medical Affairs or Clinical Development.

Expected Annual Base Salary Range for role: 93,870.00 to  GBP

The base salary offered is determined based on gender-neutral objectives, such as relevant skills, competencies and experience in accordance with the Novartis pay setting policy and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically.

In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for a performance-based bonus depending on certain performance parameters.
