About the Role
Our client requires a meticulous Environmental Health & Safety Officer with a specialization in sanitation for their operations in Durban. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all facilities maintain exemplary standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety, adhering strictly to both national and international regulations. You will conduct thorough audits, develop risk assessments, and implement preventative measures to safeguard the health of employees and the public.
This hybrid position allows for strategic planning and reporting from home, balanced with essential on-site inspections and team engagement, fostering a culture of proactive health and safety management within the organization.
- Conduct regular site assessments to evaluate sanitation practices and identify potential hazards.
- Develop and implement comprehensive EHS policies and procedures with a focus on sanitation.
- Investigate sanitation-related incidents, accidents, and near misses, recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety legislation.
- Collaborate with facility managers and staff to promote a strong safety culture.
- Prepare detailed reports on EHS performance, including sanitation metrics.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in EHS roles, with a significant focus on sanitation.
- In-depth knowledge of South African health and safety regulations.
- Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NOSA, NEBOSH) is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
