The role:

We are excited to be advertising permanent 0.6 Band 6 Community Paediatric Physiotherapy post. You will be based at the Aranthrue Centre in Renfrew, but you will see children and young people in a variety of settings (homes, nursery, school (both mainstream and specialist provision) as well as clinics across Renfrewshire.

Your caseload will have a variety of developmental, neurological and MSK conditions and you will need to be competent in assessing a wide range of paediatric conditions based on sound theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, often in situations where conflicting evidence is present.

You will be part of the rotas for our weekly Advice Line, twice monthly triage and CPIPs clinics as well as monthly JACs (Joint Assessment Clinic). You will also be involved with our in service training program, supervision and service development. You would assist with supervision of students and rotational members of the team.

It is essential that you have a Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy and that you are currently registered with the HCPC. You are expected to be working towards master's level post graduate qualifications. Experience in the community would be highly desirable, but being a car driver is essential.

Part-time positions (21.6 hours per week)
Shift pattern for this role are Monday to Friday

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Key responsibilities:

To be responsible and accountable for management and implementation of patient care programmes in paediatric physiotherapy and to input to board wide care programmes.
To co-ordinate intervention that may include other disciplines; advises and educates patient/carers/relatives/other health professionals.
To work closely with teachers and support staff within the Education department to ensure that the child is assisted to achieve both therapeutic and educational targets by setting joint targets and inputting into Individual Education Programmes.
To provide physiotherapy services as sole practitioner in clinic, patients home, nursery, primary and secondary schools both mainstream and special school locations as required.
To ensure that the agreed quality standards of service, based on professional guidelines and standards from CSP Clinical Practice, and national guidelines are maintained and to work with the Superintendent in this area.
To flexibly plan and organise own time and liaise with team to include patient care, training, supervision and meetings.
To provide an efficient and effective physiotherapy service within the clinical area by appropriate management of the team members and their caseloads.
To take responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of the physiotherapy service to children by working within and alongside established physiotherapy teams in the absence of team leader.
To assess and order specialised paediatric physiotherapy equipment for the use by children on clinical caseload. Also to provide expert advice to external agencies on the provision of equipment. (i.e. Education, Social Work)
To ensure that all equipment defects, accidents and complaints are reported to the Team Lead immediately and that appropriate action is taken by those concerned.
