Singapore Cheshire Home is a long-term Adult Disability Home in Singapore, committed to providing excellent rehabilitative and transitional care for people with physical disabilities. The Home offers holistic rehabilitation therapy, as well as medical and nursing services around the clock for residents, many of whom live with neurological impairments, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and muscular dystrophy. In addition to residential care, the organization runs a Day Activity Centre that provides daily rehabilitation and social activities for clients.
Founded in 1957 by Lord Leonard Cheshire, the Home fosters a warm, community-oriented environment where residents build strong relationships and participate in regular social events, outings, and festive celebrations supported by dedicated volunteers.
The Senior Physiotherapist is a full-time, on-site role based in Singapore, responsible for delivering and supervising comprehensive physiotherapy services for residents and day clients. This role involves assessing functional status, developing and implementing individualized rehabilitation plans, and providing evidence-based physiotherapy interventions to individuals with complex physical and neurological conditions. The Senior Physiotherapist will guide and mentor junior therapists and support staff, collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to optimize resident outcomes, and contribute to case discussions and care planning.
Day-to-day tasks include conducting treatments and exercise sessions, monitoring progress, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and educating residents, families, and caregivers on therapy plans and home-based exercises. The role also supports service enhancement, participates in quality improvement initiatives, and may assist in community and outreach programs related to rehabilitation and disability care.
- Recognized degree in Physiotherapy and current professional registration or eligibility to practice as a Physiotherapist in Singapore.
- 3-5 years of clinical experience, preferably in neurology, geriatric rehabilitation, or disability care, with demonstrated ability to manage complex cases.
- Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills in physiotherapy, including formulation of individualized treatment plans and use of evidence-based interventions.
- Ability to mentor, supervise, and support junior therapists and therapy assistants, including providing guidance on clinical practice, Programs for residents and clients and staff development.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, residents, families, caregivers, and volunteers in a respectful and inclusive manner.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle caseloads, documentation, and reporting while maintaining high standards of care and safety.
- Commitment to person-centered care, empathy for individuals with physical and neurological disabilities, and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needs.
- Willingness to participate in quality improvement, service development, and training initiatives; experience with community or long-term care settings is an advantage.
- Basic proficiency in relevant IT systems for documentation and reporting; familiarity with assistive devices and mobility aids is beneficial
