Community Health Worker

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Community Health Worker to join their team serving the Richards Bay area. This role is instrumental in bridging the gap between healthcare services and the community, focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, and access to care. You will empower individuals and families with health education, assist them in navigating the healthcare system, and support the implementation of community health programs.

• Conduct health needs assessments within the community and identify key health challenges.
• Deliver health education sessions on topics such as nutrition, hygiene, chronic disease management, and maternal health.
• Assist community members in accessing healthcare services, including appointments, screenings, and vaccinations.
• Promote preventative health measures and encourage participation in health campaigns and wellness programs.
• Collaborate with local clinics, NGOs, and other stakeholders to coordinate health initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of activities, client interactions, and health outcomes, contributing to program evaluation.

• A qualification or certification in Community Health Work, Primary Health Care, or a related field.
• Previous experience working as a Community Health Worker or in a similar public health role.
• Strong understanding of local health issues and resources within Richards Bay and the surrounding regions.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, including potential for remote coordination.
• Proficiency in local languages and understanding of cultural sensitivities are highly valued.
