A fixed term vacancy, until 4th May 2027, has arisen in the acute children’s ward at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary (DGRI). This post is to work between the acute ward, paediatric short stay assessment unit and children’s outpatient department. The post holder may also be expected to work within the neonatal unit when required. The post holder will be required to be flexible with the hours in which they will be able to work and will be expected to work shifts.

The children’s ward has been involved in the Scottish patient safety programme and you will be required to participate in the ongoing quality improvement initiatives within the unit.

The post holder will have experience of working with children and families and /or experience as a health care support worker. The post holder will also be expected to have or work towards a recognised SVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent and will be expected to participate in further education and training to enhance personal and professional development.

The post holder will be expected to participate in ongoing development within the unit. The post holder should have an understanding of multi- agency working and should have knowledge and of local child protection guidelines and policies.

The post holder will be expected to work shifts e.g. early shifts, late shifts, night shifts and twilight shifts when required.

Some of our posts may require you to undergo a criminal records check. Changes as of the 1 April 2025 to the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership now sees more roles requiring PVG that may not have needed this check in the past.
