Senior Health Care Support Worker - Obstetrics and Gynaecology

As a Senior Healthcare Support Worker within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients and clinical colleagues to ensure safe, effective and person-centred care. Working under the guidance of Registered Nurses and Midwives, you will undertake a wide range of clinical and non-clinical duties that make a meaningful difference to patients and their families every day.

• Full-time, Permanent
• You will be based at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
• Working Pattern:
  Mon – Fri, 08:30 – 16:30

• Deliver a range of delegated patient care activities to support the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care
• Monitor and report changes in patients' physical or psychological wellbeing to Registered Nurses or Midwives
• Undertake clinical tasks including patient observations, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, blood pressure monitoring and wound care activities
• Assist with the safe transfer, movement and positioning of patients while promoting dignity and comfort at all times
• Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to effective communication across the multidisciplinary team
• Support housekeeping, stock control and equipment checks to ensure a safe and efficient clinical environment
• Communicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives and colleagues while promoting a compassionate and professional approach

• SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent knowledge gained through relevant or significant experience and training
• Relevant or significant experience providing care and support within a healthcare, care or community setting
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with good literacy, numeracy and IT abilities
• Understanding of person-centred care and the importance of dignity, respect, confidentiality and compassion
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control, health and safety practices and professional standards relevant to the role
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while managing allocated responsibilities
• Willingness to undertake ongoing training and development to maintain and enhance knowledge, skills and competencies throughout your career with NHSGGC
