About the Role
Our client is seeking a compassionate and experienced Addiction Counselor to join their treatment center in Stellenbosch . This role involves providing individual and group counseling to clients struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues. You will guide clients through the recovery process, employing evidence-based therapeutic modalities and fostering a supportive environment. The ideal candidate is empathetic, non-judgmental, and skilled in motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy, working a hybrid schedule that balances direct client interaction with remote administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' substance use and mental health status.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, setting achievable recovery goals.
- Facilitate individual, group, and family counseling sessions using evidence-based approaches.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing acute challenges.
- Educate clients and their families about addiction, recovery, and relapse prevention strategies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
- Relevant degree or diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
- Professional certification or accreditation as an Addiction Counselor.
- Proven experience in addiction counseling and treating substance use disorders.
- Strong understanding of addiction recovery principles and therapeutic techniques (e.g., CBT, MI).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records and telehealth platforms.
