Job overviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated midwife to join our Women’s and Children’s Governance Team as a Patient Safety Midwife with lead responsibility for the Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT) process.
This is a substantive 15-hour-per-week role working across our maternity services. The post offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, with a combination of on-site working across both hospital sites and working from home, according to service requirements.
Main duties of the jobYou will take a lead role in the coordination and delivery of the Trust's PMRT process, ensuring that reviews are timely , thorough, multidisciplinary and centred on the experiences and voices of women, birthing people and their families.
You will work closely with the maternity and neonatal colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team to support high-quality reviews, identify learning and ensure that recommendations contribute to meaningful and sustained improvements in maternity and neonatal care.
A key aspect of the role will be supporting sensitive and compassionate engagement with bereaved families, ensuring they are offered the opportunity to contribute to the review of their care and that their questions and perspectives are appropriately represented within the PMRT process.
Responsibilities will include coordinating PMRT reviews and meetings, preparing cases and reports, monitoring actions and timescales, analysing themes and trends, and supporting the dissemination of learning across the service.
You also contribute to the wider maternity patient safety and governance agenda, promoting a positive culture of learning, openness and continuous improvement.
