Job Description About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Pharmacovigilance Specialist to join their dedicated safety surveillance team. This role is fully remote, allowing you to contribute to safeguarding public health from anywhere in South Africa. You will be responsible for monitoring, detecting, assessing, and preventing adverse effects or any other drug‑related problems associated with pharmaceutical products. This position offers a chance to work with a global leader in the pharmaceutical sector, leveraging your expertise in safety data management and regulatory compliance in a flexible, remote‑first environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and process adverse event reports, ensuring timely and accurate data entry into safety databases.
  • Conduct literature searches and review scientific publications for potential safety signals.
  • Prepare and submit Periodic Safety Update Reports (PSURs) and other regulatory safety reports.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Clinical, Medical Affairs) and external partners to gather safety information.
  • Ensure compliance with global pharmacovigilance regulations and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in risk management plan development and implementation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Nursing, Medicine, or a related healthcare or life science field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmacovigilance or drug safety.
  • In-depth knowledge of global pharmacovigilance regulations (e.g., FDA, EMA, SAHPRA).
  • Experience with safety databases (e.g., Argus, ArisG) and data management principles.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for case processing and signal detection.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, crucial for remote teamwork and regulatory interactions.
