The role
About the RoleSouth Coast Home Physiotherapy is a private, home-visiting therapy service. We treat people in their own homes and in care homes across Hampshire and south Wiltshire. We launched in 2025 and have grown quickly to a team of five physiotherapists.
We're now looking to add the clinical expertise of an occupational therapist to our team. We want an OT who will bring their own skills and knowledge to our clinical offering, working alongside our physiotherapists to give clients the best possible care, not just provide equipment. This is a full-time, permanent post for an occupational therapist to build our OT service.
WhatSets Us Apart
- Every appointment is a full hour. No 30-minute slots, no back-to-back list.
- Each client sees the same therapist every visit, so you build real relationships and see the results of your work.
- A friendly, supportive clinical team, with clinical excellence and long-term outcomes ahead of volume.
- A permanent, full-time role building our occupational therapy service
- Work alongside an established physiotherapy team on shared clients: stroke and neurological conditions, recovery after surgery, falls and frailty, dementia, and hospital discharges
- Visits grouped around Fareham, Gosport, Southampton, Eastleigh and Winchester, so travel stays manageable
- A varied caseload with genuine autonomy, as part of a supportive team
- Home safety assessments, identifying hazards and fall risks and recommending adaptations such as grab rails and stairlifts
- Supporting daily living and independence: washing, dressing, cooking and kitchen tasks
- Transfer assessments and practice: bed, chair, toilet, car and stairs
- Equipment and mobility aid assessments, with training for clients and carers on everything recommended
- Wheelchair and seating assessments, including posture and pressure relief
- 24-hour postural care, including positioning, sleep and contracture management
- Dementia and cognitive support: memory strategies and rebuilding routines
- Stroke and neurological rehabilitation through everyday activities, alongside our physiotherapists
- Falls prevention from an occupational therapy perspective: home layout, routines and confidence
- Care home work: seating and moving and handling reviews, guidance for staff, and support for residents moving into care
- Moving and handling training for families and professional carers
- Rebuilding driving confidence after a fracture, stroke or surgery, with referral for formal driving assessment where needed
- Written reports for equipment funding, home adaptations (including Disabled Facilities Grants), care planning and case managers
- Working with councils, GPs, case managers and home care agencies, and keeping accurate, timely clinical records
- Clients' homes
- Residential and nursing homes
- Community settings
- Potentially hydrotherapy, as we develop the service
- Has at least 2 years' experience since qualifying, ideally in community, social care or neurological rehabilitation
- Is confident working on your own, making clinical decisions and managing your day, with a supportive team at the end of the phone
- Enjoys variety, from home assessments and reports to care home work
- Would like to help build a new service within a growing team
- BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC registered
- At least 2 years' post-qualification experience
- Full UK driving licence
