Certified Inpatient Medical Coder | Remote

Position: Certified Inpatient Medical Coder | $70/hr Remote

Type: Contract

Compensation: $50 - $70/hour

Location: Remote

Commitment: 10-40 hrs/week

• Review and analyze inpatient medical records for accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding.
• Review clinical documentation for accuracy and coding integrity.
• Identify principal and secondary diagnoses and assign Present on Admission (POA) indicators.
• Validate MS-DRG assignment and flag hospital-acquired conditions and patient safety indicators.
• Evaluate AI-generated clinical notes against real-world documentation and coding standards.
• Code AI-generated diagnostic and procedural information using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS classification systems.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in diagnosis and procedure coding.
• Provide clear written feedback on coding errors and complex cases.

• Active certification in CIC, CCS, or other coding certification through AHIMA and AAPC.
• Strong relevant experience in inpatient ICD-10-CM/PCS coding.
• Access to up-to-date official ICD-10-CM/PCS coding books and Coding Clinic guidance.
• Currently working in inpatient medical coding or clinical documentation improvement.
