American Cruise Lines, the largest United States‑flagged cruise line, is looking to add Assistant Hotel Managers to our shipboard team for the 2026 season. We operate exclusively in the United States, offering a unique small‑ship experience on our fleet of fewer than 200 passenger vessels. With newly constructed ships joining the fleet, this is a great opportunity to join our shipboard management team.

The Assistant Hotel Manager (AHM) works under the Hotel Manager to oversee the Hotel Department and ensure quality service, consistent standards, and guest satisfaction. The AHM supervises the shipboard hotel management team and ensures all employees follow approved company procedures—including dining, culinary, housekeeping, shore excursions, onboard enrichment, guest services, customer service, crew morale, and training.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the Housekeeping Manager and Restaurant Manager at the direction of the Hotel Manager.
  • Assist the Hotel Manager as directed.
  • Assist the Restaurant Manager during all meal services.
  • Perform duties of the Hotel General Manager when the Hotel General Manager is off ship.
  • Prepare with the Hotel Manager for turnover and handoff of duties during scheduled time off from ship.
  • Be present and available during all meal services, either front or back of house, including the secondary dining outlet.
  • Support the Housekeeping Manager and team in maintaining all guest spaces, rooms, and public areas.
  • Assist & verify stateroom inspections.
  • Assist and verify with the Housekeeping Manager the Turnaround Day process.
  • Oversee bartender steward to ensure secondary bar operations run smoothly.
  • Display leadership and maintain professional presence.
  • Be visible and available to all guests and crew.
  • Hold officers and crew accountable to American Cruise Lines’ standards.
  • Comply with American Cruise Lines’ Operations Manual, service standards, and procedures.
  • Assess performance of the management team and provide immediate corrective feedback.
  • Anticipate guest and crew needs.
  • Respond quickly to guest requests and ensure follow‑through of service delivery.
  • Identify problems, resolve immediately, and request home office support as needed.
  • Assist with breakfast, lunch, and dinner services, cocktail hour, and onboard events.
  • Oversee crew orientation, training, scheduling, uniform standards, and discipline.
  • Assist ship officers in achieving weekly sales goals.
  • Maintain impeccable cleanliness in passenger areas and ensure housekeeping standards are followed.
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards of crew rooms.
  • Monitor shipboard business transactions, accounting, timecards, and home office reporting.
  • Complete daily ship inspection/walk‑through with HGM & HKM to ensure ship cleanliness and generate special projects.
  • Track all hotel maintenance items and ensure completion.
  • Create consistent and positive crew experiences to improve employee retention.
  • Perform bartending duties as needed alongside other management personnel.
  • Expedite breakfast service in the main dining room, ensuring timely service and food quality that meets company standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or Hotel & Restaurant Management preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years management experience at a full‑service hotel, resort, or cruise ship.
  • Business degree considered with relevant management and hospitality experience.
  • Military experience considered with relevant management and hospitality experience.
  • Strong organizational and excellent verbal/written communication skills (English).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Available to travel and work a flexible schedule, including 14–15 hour days for six to eight weeks at a time.
  • U.S. Coast Guard regulated pre‑employment drug test.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
