Regional Human Resources Manager - West Region

Join MEI Industrial Solutions as a Regional Human Resources Manager.

Position Summary

The Regional Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the primary functions to support the human resource needs for the region offices they serve. This includes new hire onboarding, employee lifecycle through separation processes, performance management, employee relations and organizational development to align with regional office business objectives. They will liaise with employees and managers to support employment relations and communication that reinforces MEI’s values and culture.

They will provide advisory support to regional office leadership on all areas of employment, performance management, disciplinary counsel, compliance with company policies and practices and employee and organizational development.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Director of HR & Payroll Operations and other functional HR leadership to execute the organization’s HR and talent strategy, including onboarding, policy compliance, engagement, retention, employee relations, lifecycle and performance management, and training.
  • Provide advisory guidance to regional office management supporting best practices, organizational development, leadership, team motivation, documentation, record‑keeping and performance management.
  • Serve as internal investigator for complaints, policy violations or employment issues, monitoring and responding to reports submitted directly to HR or through MEI’s Ethical Advocate system.
  • Collaborate with co‑Regional HR Managers, Talent Acquisition, Training & Development, Benefits & Compensation, HRMS and Payroll leadership to ensure systems and key functional programs are understood.
  • Offer consultative guidance on complex, specialized and sensitive questions and issues, including investigative and separation responsibilities.
  • Work cross‑functionally with legal, operations, safety, accounting & finance and DOT.
  • Support the development, administration and maintenance of the job description library, including creation/drafting and FLSA evaluation.
  • Administer employment records management within HRMS systems and electronic records, covering the full employment lifecycle.
  • Maintain documents and forms owned by the HR department, housed in the employee & manager self‑service portal.
  • Process post‑employment requirements and requests such as unemployment claims responses, verification of employment and outside agency requests.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and recommend best practices; review policies and practices for compliance.
  • Keep current on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, employee management, and employment law.
  • Support initiatives, programs and efficiencies within the HR/Payroll Operations department under direction of the Director.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to HR Generalist level as needed.
  • Travel to region offices as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of human resource business partner or HR management experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of HR support experience within a nationwide framework.
  • Proven relational leadership, building and maintaining relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote capacity.
  • Strong analytical, resourceful and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to act with discretion, integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment‑related state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or related software.
  • Proficiency with HRMS systems.
  • Travel required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Human Resources certifications (SHRM, SPHR) highly desired.
  • Industrial or construction services industry background a plus.
  • Remote position, preference for home office location near one of the region offices.
