About the Company

Our client is a global, engineering-driven organization operating in a highly technical manufacturing and R&D environment. The business runs on operational discipline, safety, and continuous improvement — and HR is expected to operate at the same standard.

About the Role

They are hiring an HR Manager to serve as the primary people leader for a U.S. manufacturing site, partnering closely with plant leadership, union representatives, and regional HR peers.

This role sits on the front lines of the business
.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the go-to HR leader for union and non-union employee relations
  • Partner with plant leadership on investigations, discipline, grievances, and performance issues
  • Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements and labor policies with confidence
  • Maintain compliance with U.S. (and Canadian, where applicable) labor and employment regulations
  • Partner with the Plant Manager and Director/VP-level leaders on workforce planning, organizational change, and leadership decisions
  • Support operational transformation, Lean initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Coach leaders through difficult people decisions with clarity and consistency
  • Own site-level HR compliance, policies, and processes
  • Ensure alignment with global HR frameworks while adapting to local realities
  • Support audits, reporting, and regulatory requirements without drama or delay
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and internal mobility for manufacturing and technical roles
  • Partner with leaders on succession planning and development for frontline and salaried leaders
  • Reinforce a culture of safety, accountability, and engagement
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience in a global organization
Required Skills
  • Strong employee relations and union experience
  • Experience in manufacturing, plant, or technically complex operating environments
  • Fluency in U.S. labor law and HR compliance (Canada exposure a plus)
  • Ability to partner credibly with Plant Managers and senior leaders
  • Comfort being visible, direct, and decisive on-site
  • Ability to thrive in environments where operations come first and HR must keep up

This is not a role for someone who prefers remote work, light ER exposure, or purely corporate HR.

Pay Range & Compensation

Up to 15% annual bonus

Equal Opportunity Statement

Our client is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity, equity, and inclusion across all levels of the organization.

Final Word

This is a career-building HR role for someone who wants to be close to the business, close to leadership, and trusted when things get difficult.
