Human Resource Consultant 2 | AHCC at the State of Washington, Full Time, Permanent.
Location:
Airway Heights Corrections Center, Airway Heights, WA.
Salary Range: $5,011 - $6,735 Monthly.
This position is not eligible for telework. The candidate must work at the Washington Corrections Center daily.
Are you a customer oriented and organized team player who is interested in a career in public service? The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a dynamic and high-performing individual to support managers, supervisors, and staff with multiple human resource issues.
Responsibilities- Providing consultation, advice, guidance and support to managers, supervisors, and staff regarding multiple and diverse human resource issues and processes in the following areas:
- Recruitment and selection
- Compensation
- Classification
- Diversity and inclusion
- Employee supervision
- Employee personal/work‑related illness/injury leave
- Employee relations and labor relations (e.g., interpreting and clarifying Collective Bargaining Agreements, Federal laws, WACs, RCWs, DOC, HR and facility policies)
- Inputting and monitoring personnel actions and maintaining electronic and physical files, including:
- New hires, pay adjustments, promotions, and date calculations to conform with Civil Service Rules
- Tracking employees on extended paid leave and leave without pay and processing appropriate actions
- Resolving payroll errors and coordinating with payroll
- Reviewing and processing Performance and Development Plans (PDP) and Position Description Forms (PDF).
- Administering the CBA Bid System.
- Participating in special projects and other duties as assigned.
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Two years of broad-based human resources experience.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Outlook.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with focus on business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Two years of professional-level human resource experience, including assessing and facilitating solutions for human resource problems and issues.
- Six months or more experience using NEOGOV and HRMS.
- S/PHR or IMPA‑HR certification.
- SHRM‑CP or SHRM‑SCP certification.
College-level coursework from an accredited institution may substitute one year of experience. 30 semester or 45 quarter credits equal one year.

This position may be allocated for telework. Employees may work from home or an offsite location within Washington with reliable internet. Employees will be required to commute to a DOC facility as needed.
